Results of the women's downhill olympics

The Olympic Games women's ski downhill has always been a favourite event. It is a race that often features some of the most skilled skiers around the globe and involves some intense competition. It has also produced some of the most memorable Olympic finishes, including a victory by Lindsey Vonn at Sochi 2014.

It was expected to be a difficult competition with the new venue of world-class quality and an even more competitive field. It's been proven right.

Sofia Goggia was the Olympic gold medalist. She made a strong run in the downhill but fell just short. In the end, she was fourth behind Nadia Delago of Italy and Anastasiia Shmirnova of Russia.

In the men's moguls, Sweden's Walter Wallberg won a gold medal in an event that saw three of the country's athletes finish inside the top 10. Mikael Kingsbury of Canada earned silver and Ikuma Horishima from Japan took bronze.

It's been an active week in alpine ski. Despite the weather affecting the schedule, Mikaela shiffrin, an American skier is still competing for a medal at these Games.

Although she has only skied in two of five events, she gained some confidence through a strong performance in the super-G last week. This will help her prepare to compete in the combined, which is where she is a favorite for a medal.

30 skiers were left after the first round of qualifying. They had to battle their way through the second round of qualifying, which saw them go from 20 to 12 and then from 12 to 6.

This is a pretty brutal process. This is a brutal process, but fans will enjoy it because it helps to eliminate weaker competitors.

A total of four American skiers made it through to the finals in moguls: Kai Owens, Olivia Giaccio, Hannah Soar, and Jaelin Kauf.

It is interesting to see that all four of them have finished in the top-30 for their respective World Cup events this season. However, Giaccio and Soar were in the top-10 in previous seasons.

For comparison, Shiffrin was in the top-30 when she won her second gold medal at Sochi in 2014, and she's been in the top-20 in every event she has competed in since then.

This Beijing event attracted many of the top downhillers around the world. We will be watching to see how it plays out. Ester Ledecka (and Michelle Gisin) are expected to be the top three.

The race's top four runners will then progress to the slalom event. This will be different from the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, when the top 30 downhillers were placed in reverse order to compete in the slalom.

In other downhill news, Italy's Corinne Suter is a shoo-in for the gold medal. She won the super-G and downhill gold medals at these Olympics (2019 and 2021), and she was also the world champion last year.
